Children's Ministry

Children and their families are an integral part of the Holmes Street family!  From birth through 5th grade children are welcomed into a safe, nurturing environment by loving volunteers and staff.  Child-care is provided for infants and toddlers during Sunday school and worship service and age-appropriate Sunday school classes are provided for children preschool age and older.

Fantastic Voyage is our awesome K-5th Grade Sunday school program. It uses the rotation model Sunday school teaching method.  Children enjoy a weekly lesson through a variety of interactive and hands-on learning techniques including a video in our Solar Cinema, computer activities in our Cyber Safari class, and a drama performance or skit in our Play Palace.  Kids love it, they're not bored, and they really learn the Bible lesson and retain its truths!

All children are encouraged to participate in our Sunday morning worship service. There's even a special segment called Children's Minute during which they are invited to come to the alter to hear a special "sermon" just for them. After Children's Minute, parents have the option of keeping their preschoolers with them for the remainder of the worship service or they can return to our children's building for care.  It is our hope that school age children stay for the worship service so they can begin to develop their own appreciation for and understanding of weekly worship.

Kids love Sunday nights at Holmes Street UMC! The fun kicks off with a Snack Supper where the kids get to fellowship with each other. After supper, K-5th Grades participate in T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More).  This exciting weekly time focuses on what it means for a young person to become a disciple of Jesus Christ and learning to serve others.  TEAM kids also get to participate in a children's choir.  Throughout the year, TEAM kids take part in meaningful and fun activities including a bike-a-thon to raise money for charity and an annual Christmas program performed for the congregation.
